1) Run Valorant As An Administrator
Sometimes Valorant may need administrative permission to run.
So, try running Valorant with administrative privileges and check if this fixes the issue.
To do so, follow the steps as given below:
- Right-click on the Valorant desktop shortcut and expand its Properties.
- Click on the Compatibility tab. Check the box for Run this program as administrator.
Now run the game and see if the problem is fixed. If not, disable Hyper V.
2) Disable Hyper V
Hyper V is a Windows feature for hardware visualization.
This feature can be responsible for game crashes. So, disable Hyper V and see if this can fix the issue:
- Type Turn Windows features on or off in the Windows search menu and click on the top result.
- Search for the Hyper V option and uncheck the option.
- Click OK to save the changes.
- Restart your PC and see if Riot Vanguard again shown the same error; enable Data Execution prevention.
3) Enable Data Execution Prevention Or DEP
Data Execution Prevention, or DEP, is a Windows in-built security feature that protects your system from malicious attacks.
If this feature is disabled, Vanguard can also crash on your system.
- Type CMD in the Windows search menu and run Command Prompt as an administrator. Click Yes to continue.
- Type or copy & paste the following command in the elevated Command Prompt window and hit Enter:
bcdedit.exe /set {current} nx OptIn
- Now exit the CMD window and launch Valorant. See if the error has been fixed. If not, update your graphics drivers.
4) Update The Graphics Drivers
Outdated graphics drivers can be responsible for Vanguard to crash.
So, you should always keep your graphics drivers updated to experience good gaming performance.
Follow the steps below to update the graphics drivers:
If you have an Nvidia graphics card, to update your graphics drivers, use GeForce Experience.
Install it from Nvidia’s website and then run GeForce Experience.
Once the app opens, click on Drivers and look for the latest available driver. If there is any, download & install it.
A similar process applies for AMD graphics cards, but use Radeon software instead of GeForce Experience.
Run the app & check for the latest driver. Download & install the latest drivers, and then restart your PC.
5) Disable Firewall

To disable Windows Firewall, follow the steps given below:
- Type Windows Firewall in the Search Menu and select the top option.
- Click on Turn Windows Defender Firewall on or off.
- Click on radio buttons for both Private and Public settings and Turn off Windows Defender Firewall (not recommended).
If you have any other antivirus installed on your system, uninstall that.
You should enable Windows Firewalls soon after you finish playing Valorant, as without them, your system is vulnerable to malicious threats.
6) Delete Cache
The corrupted cache can also be responsible for the game crash. So, delete the cache from the Valorant folder and see if this can fix the issue.
Follow the steps below to do so:
- Press Windows + R keys to launch the Run utility.
- Type appdata in the Run command box and hit Enter.
- Open the local folder and click on Valorant > Saved.
- Select the cache folder and right-click on it. Delete the folder.
- Next, open the web cache folder and delete the GPUCache folder.
7) Reinstall Vanguard
If the above methods did not fix the Valorant error, reinstall Vanguard.
To reinstall Valorant, follow the steps given below:
- Launch Run utility.
- Type Control in the Run Command box and press the Enter key.
- Set the View by category to small and large icons.
- Select Programs and Features.
- Under Uninstall or change a program, locate Riot Vanguard. Right-click on the program and select the Uninstall option.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the uninstallation process.
