WHEA stands for Windows Hardware Error Architecture.
When you get a blue screen of death with an non correctable error stop code, this means ome a hardware-related problem has occurred.
Your PC compiles some diagnostic data and resets when this error occurs.
If the root cause of the error persists, you will again be greeted with a Blue screen of death with the same stop code.
But do not worry if you are getting such BSOD errors on your Windows 11, as we have provided all possible solutions to fix the error here.
Ways To Fix WHEA Uncorrectable Error
Let us check the solutions for WHEA uncorrectable error on your Windows 10 or 11.
1. Restart Your PC
When you see a Blue Screen of Death WHEA_ UNCORRECTABLE_ ERROR, restart your PC first.
Shut down the PC and unplug all its power cables and peripherals.
Then reconnect everything and restart your PC. Check for any loose connection if the PC does not boot into Windows normally.
2. Check For Hardware Issues
Sometimes, if the RAM is not seated correctly or there is a loose connection, you can get BSOD errors.
So, open the cabinet, check if the RAM is seated correctly, and look for any loose connection.
Ensure all the cables are correctly connected and there is no loose connection anywhere. Restart your p, and if you again see the Windows stop code WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR, update Windows.
3) Update Windows
Outdated Windows versions can also cause stop code WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR.
So, update Windows to the latest version and see if this can fix the issue.
You can enter Safe mode if you cannot boot into Windows normally and then perform the steps below.
Safe Mode takes Windows in the basic state with minimal functionalities.
Here is how to enter Safe Mode:
- Go to the Advanced Startup Recovery Menu as described in the previous method.
- Select the Troubleshoot option.
- Next, choose Advanced options > Startup Settings > Restart.
- Now press the F5 button to enter Safe Mode with the networking option.
- Once you are in the Safe Mode, go to the following solutions.
Now update your Windows following these steps:
- Type Check for updates in the Windows search menu and select the top search result.
- Click on the Check for Updates button, and if there is any update available, download & install it.
- Wait till Windows updates itself to the latest build. Restart your PC. If you encounter any error while updating Windows, resolve it first and then proceed.
4) Perform A System Restore
A system restore takes the system to the previous point, after which you have encountered the BSOD error.
But if you have not created any system restore point earlier, skip this step and move on to the next solution.
Here is how to perform a system restore:
- Open the Control Panel using the Windows search menu.
- Select the Recovery option.
- Next, choose Open System Restore and click on Next. Select a restore point.
- Once done, click on Next > Finish to complete the process.
5) Run Chkdsk
A CHKDSK is a Windows tool that scans the hard drive for any file system errors.
So, if you are getting the BSOD error due to any hard drive error, a CHDSK can repair it.
Here is how to run a CHKDSK scan:
- Type CMD in the search menu and choose to run Command Prompt as administrator.
- In the elevated CMD window, type the following command and press enter
chkdsk C: /f /r /x
Replace the letter ‘C’ as per your drive letter. If the problem persists, update the graphics drivers.
6) Update Graphics Drivers
Update your graphics drivers if you still find a WHEA uncorrectable error in Windows 10 or 11. Outdated graphics drivers can cause these sorts of BSOD errors.
Here is how to do so:
- Right-click on the Start Menu and select Device Manager.
- Expand the Display Adapters section and right-click on the device driver you are using.
- Select Update driver.
- Follow the on-screen instructions and finish the process of updating the drivers.
- If the error persists after updating the graphics drivers, reinstall them.
- Expand the Display Adapters section and right-click on your display driver. Click on the Uninstall device option.
Follow the on-screen prompts to finish the process.
If you use a Nvidia graphics card to update the graphics drivers, download & install GeForce Experience.
If you already have GeForce Experience installed, run the app. Go to the Drivers tab and check for any available driver updates. Download & install the latest updates.
You must install the Radeon software instead of GeForce Experience to update the graphics drivers. Follow a similar process to install the latest drivers.
Once you have updated the graphics drivers, restart your PC. If you again get WHEA UNCORRECTABLE ERROR, run SFC and DISM scans.
7) Run SFC and DISM Scans
If the system files or images are missing or corrupted, you can also get Windows stop code WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR.
To fix it, run SFC and DISM scans.
An SFC scan will detect and repair the corrupted system files and download the missing system files for you.
A DISM scan can fix Windows corrupted or broken images that can be responsible for the BSOD error. Once you have finished the scans, restart your PC.
If you again get the same BSOD error, disable overclocking.
8) Disable Overclocking
Overclocking can boost performance but sometimes strain your PC’s components and crash the system. This overclocking can be another reason for the WHEA uncorrectable BSOD error.
So, disable overclocking and see if this can fix the error. Here are the steps to do so:
Boot into your BIOS or UEFI settings. The process of booting into BIOS varies from system to system.
So, you can visit your manufacturer’s website to know how to boot into your BIOS or go through the user manual to find it.
Here are the basic steps to enter into BIOS or the UEFI settings:
- Open your Windows Settings.
- Click on Recovery from the right pane.
- Then click on the Restart Now button next to Advanced Startup.
- Once your PC restarts, select Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > UEFI Firmware Settings.
- Once you boot into your BIOS or UEFI settings, navigate to the Overclocking section and then disable it.
9) Scan Your Hard Drive
Windows provides a free error-checking tool to detect problems in the hard drive.
So, follow the steps given below to scan your hard drive with the error-checking tool:
- Right-click on the Windows Start menu and select File Explorer.
- Select This PC and right-click on the drive you want to scan. Select Properties.

Wait till the scan is complete and Windows fixes the errors. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the scan. If asked, restart your system.
If the error persists, use the Memory Diagnostic Tool to check the memory.
10) Use a Memory Diagnostic Tool
Due to faulty RAM, you can get WHEA Uncorrectable BSOD error.
You can use a free memory diagnostic tool to check for this easily.
These tools check the bad memory and replace them. This can fix the BSOD error.
There are various free memory diagnostic tools available over the internet, but here I am showing how to use Windows Memory Diagnostic to check your Computer’s memory:
- Open the Control Panel using the Windows search menu and set the view by options to Large or small icons.
- Click on Windows Tools.

- Once your PC restarts, the Memory Diagnostic Tool should find and fix the problem automatically.
11) Reseat The SSD Card
Sometimes, reseating the SSD card can also fix the BSOD errors.
This mainly happens if you are into many fighting games with your keyboard and use a lot of bindings that are right above the SSD.
So, you can open up the PC, unscrew the SSD, and reseat the SSD card. Now check if the problem is solved. If not, then reset your PC.
12) Reset Your PC
But before you do that, make sure to back up all your essential data and files, as this process can erase all your data.
Here is how you can reset your PC:
- Open Windows Settings.
- Choose Recovery.
- Click on Reset this PC option.
- You can select either the Keep your files or Remove everything option from the Choose an option window.
- Next, go to Additional Settings > Next.
