If your wireless mouse keeps disconnecting as well, here are some simple methods that you can try to resolve this error on your device. Since the reason for your error may not be similar to others, not all the solutions here may apply to you. Make sure to read all the solutions to search and apply a fix for your device error.

Solution 1: Check Battery Levels

This is one of the most common reasons why you may be facing this error on your Windows 10 device. Most of the Bluetooth mice out in the market do not have an indicator on them, which makes it really difficult to guess when your mice may be out of power.

Check the battery levels on your mice if you have a meter handy, or else replace the batteries with new ones off the shelves.

Now check if your Bluetooth mouse keeps disconnecting on your Windows 10 device. If the low battery was causing the error on your device, this should solve the error.

Solution 2: Update Drivers

Drivers refer to the system configuration files that facilitate the communication between your hardware and operating system. If the device drivers get corrupted for some reason, your hardware can misbehave. This is also true for incompatible and outdated drivers.

To update your drivers, open a Run dialog by pressing Win + R. Type devmgmt.msc and press Enter to launch the Device Manager. Here, look for any outdated drivers, which should be marked by a yellow exclamation mark next to them.

Next, right-click on Mice and other pointing devices, and select Update driver from the context menu. Then follow the onscreen instructions to download and install the latest updates for your device.

You can also update drivers if you can download the latest drivers from the manufacturer’s website. Download and double click on the installed package to update your device drivers.

Solution 3: Disable Power Management Settings

Windows 10 is geared towards mobile devices. This means there are some settings which make the device optimized for devices running on battery power. One such setting is one found in Bluetooth adapter which turns off the device to save power.

Many users have reported that the reason that the Bluetooth mouse keeps disconnecting is this particular setting in Windows 10. This is fairly easy to solve, and you can follow these steps to solve this:

  1. Open a Run dialog by pressing Win + R.
  2. Type devmgmt.msc and press Enter to launch the Device Manager console.
  3. Expand the Bluetooth section by clicking on the small arrow next to it.
  4. Right-click on your Bluetooth adapter and select Properties from the context menu.
  5. Under the Power Management tab, uncheck the box next to Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.

Now reconnect your wireless mouse after this, and check if the error persists. Your wireless mouse should stop disconnecting randomly.

Solution 4: Uninstall Ghost Devices

When you connect a device to your computer, the drivers for that particular device are installed on your computer. However, upon the removal of the said device, the drivers are not removed from your computer as a backup for when you next connect the device.

The drivers for the devices that you do not connect to your computer are referred to as ghost devices and can sometimes lead to interference with your devices. Uninstalling these ghost devices should remove the interference and solve the Bluetooth mouse stopped working error on your device.

To uninstall these devices,

  1. Open a Run window by pressing the Win + R
  2. Type devmgmt.msc and press Enter to launch the Device Manager console.
  3. Expand the Mice and other pointing devices section by clicking on the small arrow next to it.

Wrapping Up

So there you have it. Now you know how to solve the Bluetooth mouse keeps disconnecting Windows 10 error using the solutions provided above. If these fixes did not help you solve the problem with your wireless mouse, there might be some physical damage to it, which can make the Bluetooth mouse connected but not working.
