Downloadable content was not always a part of the subscription based service, and did not exist before 2017. However, with Netflix introducing downloads and offline viewing, Hulu announced its plans for the same as well. Here, I shall discuss how to download on Hulu from now onwards.
Can You Download Movies From Hulu?
Hulu really kept its promise from a couple of years back, and introduced offline viewing from the 2018-19 season. Now, Hulu (No Ads) and Hulu Live TV subscribers can download the content from Hulu locally, and then watch them later without the need to connect to the internet.
Subscribers to the basic plan cannot download Hulu shows and videos, you will need to be at least subscribed to Hulu (No Ads) plan.
Although the feature is quite limited when it comes to offline viewing, as we will discuss later, this is a good addition, nonetheless. This is huge bonus if you are concerned about the data consumption, as you will now be spending data again if you download the shows and watch them offline.
How To Download Hulu Shows?
There are certain restrictions in place while downloading Hulu videos, so you need to make sure that the show you want is actually downloadable. Also, note that you can only download on mobile applications, and not on living room devices and the browser version.
To download Hulu shows and videos, locate the download icon that should appear next to a video. Clicking on this icon will immediately begin downloading the show on the device that you are currently watching.
To find the downloadable content, click on the Search icon and select the Downloadable tab.
What Can I Download?
Hulu’s repository of shows is huge, and you can download almost any show and movie available on the platform. This list of shows includes many popular shows like Family Guy, Bob’s Burgers, Desperate Housewives, and many Hulu originals as well.
However, you can only download 25 titles at a time from your account, across five devices. This limit applies to your account and not the device, so you can download the episodes and movies on 5 devices.
Each episode that you download is stored on your account for 30 days without watching. Also, once you hit the play button on any episode or movie, the link is only active for 48 hours, within which you must finish watching the episode.
