For your Microsoft teams to change the background, you have two different options to try.

You can either blur your messy and untidy background or you can choose to customize it with some pictures or logo.

Nowadays we are habituated to working remotely and sometimes we feel awkward while we get an urgent notice for video conferences.

We may not have time to go to some proper place or fix up the room and make it tidy.

To stop giving some untidy impressions Microsoft offers you some basic options to clean your mess! Here are some tips for you. Try them out!

Option 1: Customizing Microsoft Teams Background

Nowadays we are not done without video conferences and of course that brings teams together regardless of where we are!

But sometimes due to the messy and embarrassing environment, we may feel a bit awkward while joining a video conference and search for some tidy corner.

So, with Microsoft Teams you can easily do that and choose a blurry office background when you are video conferencing.

Follow the steps to do this:

Step 1: Whenever you join a meeting, go to the audio & video settings screen.

Step 2: Now select the three-dotted lines to get more options displayed.

Step 3: Next choose Blur my background option.

You are also open to another interesting option to choose Custom background options using the logo of your Company or inputting some office environment options.

Option 2: Customizing Video With Virtual Backgrounds

You can also choose some exciting backgrounds for your video conferences other than blurred office background.

You can use the virtual backgrounds offered by your Microsoft Teams. With this, you can give your background an office like ambiance while conferencing.

For enabling the virtual background to follow the steps mentioned below:

Step 1: Start a video chat and then open the menu.  Next, choose the Show background effects option given there.

Step 2: Now this will show you some options for your background. You have options to choose from the stock photographs available.

In order to find out something more exciting and innovative, you can choose a third-party background.

Option 3: Bridging Location Gaps

It might happen that you are working for a certain company that has branches in other countries too.

When they are holding multiple offices in some other countries also, you can bridge the location gap with your Microsoft team’s features.

In case you wish to converse, you have the Inline message translating option that will keep you on the same page with others.

Here you have the option to choose and communicate in the language you are comfortable with. Choose the ellipses just next to a message for translation.

Option 4: The Amazing @Mentions Option To Find An Expert

Amidst a meeting, you may need to know something from an expert and here you have the easiest way to ask that without wasting much time hunting for the contacts.

Microsoft offers you @Mention filtration as a solution. You will find this amazing option in the search bar.

Just type the username of that particular person you wish to contact after @.

Now Teams will guide you to that specific person without taking you out from any group chat. You can off course send messages without leaving your page.

Option 5: Use Real-Time Captions

Sometimes you may not be knowing the other persons’ language you are conferencing with. I have shown you how to translate the messages but what about video conferences?

So, don’t worry you may not be knowing all the languages of the world! You can use Translate to Menu.

This will translate the user’s language and add captions in a particular language.

You have the option to choose up to six different languages at a time.

You can download the meeting transcript when the meeting finishes. Then you can select Meetings and then choose the Live Event Resources for finding the transcript.

Live captions can be turned on by hitting the Subtitles On button. You will find it in the lower right-hand corner of the screen.

Option 6: Lower The Information Overload

You can choose the option to follow a channel for reducing loads of unnecessary information.

You may be engaged with phone calls, messages, emails, along with other collaboration tools, people, workforce packages, and so on!

So, just follow channels according to your priorities and reduce your load.

Steps for following a channel:

Step 1: Check the channel option and next to it you will find the ellipses option. So, choose it.

Step 2: Next choose the Follow option and follow the channels in your Microsoft Teams.

Option 7: Using Microsoft Teams GIFs

GIFs are a great way to show proper reactions and strengthen the bonds while working remotely and you have lesser face to face connections.

It always relaxes you and takes away the boredom focussing more and more on productivity.

These communication tools are great for bridging gaps and making you comfortable while working.

So, for choosing the GIFs, go to the Type a new message option and you will find the GIF button underneath.

You have dozens of GIF options to choose from.

Option 8: Some Keyboard Shortcuts For Microsoft Teams

Do not waste your time searching for the functions while in the middle of some important project or conference.

Here I am enlisting some basic keyboard shortcuts for your Microsoft Teams.

  • Ctrl + E: Search bar
  • Ctrl+6: Leading to your files
  • Ctrl+Shift+P: Blurring your Background
