Ever pressed pass or shoot in FC26 and felt like the game was ignoring you? Yeah, I went through that right after the latest update.
When I jumped into FC26 after the new patch, my players felt sluggish, like every move was half a second late. At first, I thought it was just me, but nope — it was input delay.
So I reinstalled the Anticheat thinking it as Anticheat failure and cleared the Control cache, and that worked for me. The game finally started feeling snappy again. Let me share what worked for me, and then we’ll go through all the methods you can try.
Why You Experience Input Delay Soon After an Update

Before we dive into fixes, here’s why input delay can creep in after an update:
- Anticheat glitches – Updates sometimes break the anti‑cheat system, causing lag in inputs.
- Network instability – Even a small drop in internet speed can make online matches feel delayed.
- Graphics settings – Heavy visual features or mismatched refresh rates can slow responsiveness.
- Cache and corrupted files – Old data or broken files can interfere with smooth gameplay.
Repairing Anticheat, Defeating Input Delay
When input delay hit my FC26, I tested different solutions until I found the ones that actually worked. Instead of guessing, here are the methods that proved effective and can help you restore smooth gameplay.
This sets the stage clearly: it acknowledges the problem, emphasizes trial‑and‑error, and transitions naturally into the step‑by‑step fixes.
Reinstalling Anticheat
I started here. I went into the FC26 installation folder, opened the EAAnti‑Cheat installer, and hit Repair. That alone made a noticeable difference. If repair doesn’t cut it, uninstall and reinstall — it’s quick and often solves hidden conflicts. Here’s what to do:
- Go to the installation location for FC 26.
- Open the folder and then open the Installer folder.
- Locate the EAAnti-Cheat folder. Open it.
- Double-click on the EAAnti-Cheat Installer. From here, select your game.
- Click on the Repair option. Then, on OK.

- Next, go to the game installation location and select the folder.
- Then click on the Select folder option.
- This will repair the Anti-Cheat. Next, click on Update so that you can make sure everything is up to date.
- You can also select the Uninstall option to uninstall the Anti-Cheat completely.
- Next, select the game from the drop-down menu and click on the Install button to install the Anti-cheat.
After the installation finishes, start the game and check if the issue persists.
Check Internet Connection

Make sure you are connected to a stable internet connection.
You can check the internet speed from speedtest.net from another device provided it is connected to the same internet.
If the internet connection is slow then contact your service provider for help. You can also restart your router or modem and check if that works.
For online modes, a wired Ethernet connection is far more stable than Wi-Fi and can reduce overall latency.
Tweak In‑Game Settings
Then I played around with display settings. Lowering resolution and turning off V‑sync gave me a more responsive feel. Sometimes it’s not about maxing graphics — it’s about balancing performance.
Here’s what I did:
- Run FC 26.
- Open the Game settings and click on Display Configuration or similar settings.
- First, set the resolution to the native resolution or 1280 x 720(16:9). Keep changing and see what works for you.
- Next, set display mode to full screen or windowed borderless.
- Set the refresh rate to 60 HZ.
- Next, set the frame rate to No limit or 30 FPS or 60 FPS whatever works for you.
- Then turn off V-sync.
- Next, set Strand-based hair to off as it is a CPU-intensive setting.

Clear Console Cache
Console players, don’t skip this. Rebuilding the PS5 database or power‑cycling Xbox clears hidden junk that slows down inputs.
If you are playing the game on PS5, then rebuild the database following these steps:
- First, switch off the gaming console.
- Next, press the Power button of the PS console and hold it till you hear 2 beeps.
- This should boot the PS console into safe mode.
- Now, connect the console to the DualShock Controller via USB cable.
- From your controller, now press the PlayStation switch. Next, choose Clear Cache
- and Rebuild Database.
- Select Rebuild Database from the menu using the controller to navigate.

- Confirm the rebuild operation by pressing the X button on the controller. Follow the on-screen instructions to proceed.
- After completing the rebuild process, restart the console.
- For, Xbox Series, turn off the console, unplug the power cable for two minutes, and then plug it back in.
Verify Game Files
On PC, verifying game files through Steam can fix corrupted data. It’s like giving your game a fresh reset.
Here is how you can verify the integrity of the game files from Steam platform.
- Head to the Steam Library. Right-click on the game and open its Properties.
- Go to the Installed Files tab and click on the Verify the Integrity of the Game files option.
