Step 1: Open your run dialog box by pressing the Windows key + R hotkey. Now when the dialog box opens enter dxdiag.

Step 2: Then go to the Render tab and check the ‘Chip Type’ entry. For some users, the Chip type may be under the Display tab. Here you are going to find the exact graphics card model.

Step 3: Next go to the System tab and check the operating system entry to find out the bit-version of your windows.

Step 4: Now go to the Nvidia GeForce website and then proceed to download the latest available drivers from the site.

Process 2: Downloading And Installing Nvidia GeForce Experience Program

You can use the Nvidia GeForce experience program for managing automatic driver updates.

For searching the driver manually, you may select the correct driver as I have mentioned previously.

There is another way to automatically detect your driver when the NVidia website will use some Java applet for detecting the graphics card you are using.

You will be needing java installed for running it. Follow the below-mentioned steps:

Step 1: For downloading the latest graphics card drivers, click on the download link unless and until you require the older version. Of course, the latest version is going to boost up the performance level!

Step 2: Now it’s time to run the downloaded installer. You may click on the Express option.

Step 3: This will make your screen flicker or become black for few seconds or so.

Now, this installer is going to remove your old driver version and replace it with the latest one.

Step 4: After the driver update gets completed, automatically a system restore point will get created. So, by now it must be clear to you how to update the NVidia graphics driver.

You may roll back your driver to the previous version now.

Step 5: Now install the Nvidia GeForce experience program.

Process 3: Update Ubuntu Drivers

For updating the Ubuntu drivers, you will have to open the additional Driver window.

When you use Ubuntu the Nvidia drivers do not get installed automatically. Here you will have to use the Additional Drivers window for installing Nvidia drivers.

Step 1: Next you will have to launch the Dash and then enter ‘Drivers’ for opening the window.

Step 2: Allow some time so that the list of the available drivers gets loaded. Next, choose the latest driver from the displayed list. Check that the driver is from Nvidia and not other sources.
