1. Restart Your Device

A fresh restart can sometimes fix minor bugs or glitches responsible for the error and restore normal operation by refreshing all the network connections.

2. Power Cycle

Power cycling the router is an effective solution as it can help clear various problems that are preventing access.  Shutting down the router completely will allow it to start fresh and also reinitialize its network settings.

So, power cycle your router and resolve the issue by following these steps:

  • Turn off the router.
  • Unplug the power cable from your router.
  • Wait for about 30 seconds.
  • Plug the power cable back into your router. Let the router restart and check.

3. Access Via The Router’s Gateway IP Address

Accessing your router via the router’s gateway IP address will help you gain valuable insights related to connectivity and access problems.

Here’s how to do it:

  • Open a Web Browser.
  • Type tplinkwifi.net in the address bar and press Enter.

4. Disable Multiple Network Connections

Ensure only one network connection either wired or wireless is active on your device.

Disable or disconnect all other network connections, including VPNs as it can interfere with the router’s IP address or web interface. By disabling it you’ll be able to simplify the network setup and establish a stable connection to the router without any interference from other networks.

5. Disable The Firewall

Temporarily disable your computer’s firewall and antivirus software, as they might block access to the router’s address. It will also help you resolve the issue related to accessing its IP address or web interference by bypassing restrictions.

  • To disable the Firewall, type Windows Firewall in the Windows Search and select the top option.

  • Next, select Turn Windows Defender Firewall on or off option.
  • Click on the radio buttons to Turn off Windows Defender Firewall for Private and Public network settings.

  • Once troubleshooting is complete, remember to re-enable your firewall and antivirus software.

6. Perform A Factory Reset

Performing a factory reset will erase all custom settings and restore the router’s factory settings. You will need to reconfigure your router after the reset.

A fresh start will lead to improved responsiveness and better overall network performance and this is how it can be done:

  • To reset the router, keep your router plugged in.
  • Find your router’s reset button. This will be on the back or the bottom of your router.

  • Use a paperclip to hold down the reset button for 30 seconds.
  • Release the button.
  • Wait for the router to power back on.
