1) Restart The Router Or The Modem
If your Ring Doorbell is not connecting to Wi-Fi, restart your router.
A fresh restart can often solve connectivity issues. So, turn off the router and disconnect the power cables attached to it. Wait for a few minutes, and then connect the wires.
Restart the router. Try to connect another device to the Wi-Fi and check if it works.
Ensure that you have kept your router close enough the range of the ring doorbell and that there is no obstruction between them. Do not keep the router inside a closet.
2) Check The Battery Status
Ring Doorbell won’t connect to Wi-Fi if the device battery is low.
So, check the Ring device battery status following the steps given below:
- Open the Ring app and select Menu. Tap on Devices.
- Select the Doorbell from the given options.
- Go to the bottom of the screen and tap on Device Health.
- From the Power Status check the battery status.
If the ring device does not have a battery, then follow the steps given below:
- Open the Ring App Devices option and select the Doorbell.
- Tap on Device Health and check the Power status. You can also find the battery power status from the top left side.
3) Check Your Password
Make sure that you are using the correct Wi-Fi password. Passwords are case sensitive, and you need to enter the same password.
Double check the password and make sure you have added no extra space or character to it.
Also, ensure that there are no special characters in your password like a pound sign or dollar sign, or exclamation mark.
4) Connect To a 2.4 GHz
If your ring device is 5 GHz compatible and you have a problem connecting to it, then connect to the 2.4 GHz first. Then you can switch to the 5 GHZ network.
If you don’t know which network frequencies are supported by your Ring doorbell, then follow the steps given below to find out:
- Open the Ring device Menu from the app.
- Select the Devices option.
- Choose the Ring Doorbell you want to know about and tap on Device Health.
- Select Device Details and find your product name. Now check which network frequency this device supports from either searching online or heading to the manufacturer’s website.
5) Try To Reconnect The Ring Doorbell To the Wi-Fi Network
After the above step, reconnect the Ring Doorbell to Wi-Fi following the steps given below:
- Open the Ring device Menu button.
- Next, tap on the Devices option and then choose the Ring Doorbell that you want to connect to the Wi-Fi. This will open the Device Dashboard.
- Tap on the Device Health option.
- Finally, tap on Change Wi-Fi Network or Reconnect to Wi-Fi option.
6) Reset The Ring Device
If the above steps did not help you to connect Ring Doorbell to Wi-Fi, then reset Ring Doorbell following the steps given below:
- Remove the security screws and the Doorbell from its bracket.
- Press & hold the setup button on the device for 10-15 seconds.
- Look at the front of the Doorbell and you will see the light flashing for several minutes.
- After the light turns off, the reset is complete.
