How To Disable Avast Secure Browser On Startup?

If you find the Avast Secure Browser useful, but just want to remove it from starting at boot, here is how you can disable Avast Secure Browser on startup:

Open the WinX menu by pressing Win + X or right-clicking on the Start button.
Select Task Manager from the menu.

Under the Startup tab, you will find the list of all the apps that are enabled at startup.
Right-click on Avast Secure Browser and click on Disabled.

This will disable the Avast Secure Browser from startup and your system will not be stressed at boot.

→ FIX 1 (Uninstall Avast Secure Browser)

Although Avast promises that a “range of features and tools are included that are designed to maximize security”, it really isn’t that great of a browser and other chromium-based browsers are far better.

To uninstall Avast Secure Browser, you need to follow these steps.

1. First, stop the Avast antivirus to work with your system. Right-click on the notification tray icon and hover over Avast shields control => Disable until computer is restarted.

2. Right-click on the Start button to launch the WinX menu. At the very top select Apps & features.

Alternatively, you can launch this from Control Panel as well.

3. From the list of applications installed on your PC, locate Avast Secure Browser and click on it.

4. Click on Uninstall.

5. Follow the on-screen instructions to uninstall the browser.

6. Restart your PC.

Tip: Sometimes a folder called ‘SZBrowser’ remains even after an uninstall. To delete this folder if it remains, you need to boot in Safe Mode (Press F8 during boot) and then delete this folder. Then reboot as you normally would.

→ FIX 2 (Remove Avast Extensions)

Avast also installs some extensions for web security on your browsers. If you want to remove Avast extensions from Chrome or other browsers, here is how you can remove the extensions from your browser.

1. Open your browser. Click on the hamburger menu(≡).

2. Select More Tools, and go to Extensions

3. In the list of installed extensions, locate the Avast extensions and click on the remove extension to remove the extension.

This will uninstall the extensions that you choose to remove.

However, if you don’t want the antivirus too, you can uninstall the Avast antivirus as well. This will remove all the components that were installed along with the Avast package installer.

To remove Avast free antivirus, follow these steps:

1. First, stop the Avast antivirus to work with your system. Right-click on the notification tray icon and hover over Avast shields control => Disable until computer is restarted.

2. Right-click on the start button to launch the WinX menu. At the very top select Apps & features.

3. From the list of applications installed on your PC, locate Avast! Free Antivirus and click on it.

4. Click on Uninstall. Click on Yes if UAC prompts up.

5. Follow the on-screen instructions to uninstall the antivirus.

6. Restart your PC to complete the uninstallation.
