What To Do When You Get A Pink PC Screen?
BSOD errors are common for PC users. If you suddenly get to see a pink monitor, then follow the steps given below to fix it.
1) Restart Your PC
When you get the pink screen of death, restart your computer. A simple restart can sometimes fix minor bugs and errors.
So, shut down your PC, and unplug the power cables attached to it. Wait for some time. Then connect the power cable and power the PC on.
If you again get the pink screen computer, check your PC.
2) Check For Hardware Issues
You can connect another monitor to your PC and check if it is working.
Also, check your graphics card or a different PC and check if it works there. If the graphics card does not work there, you need to replace it.
Besides, check the cables connected to your PC. If there is any sign of damage, change it.
3) Disconnect All The Attached Peripherals
Sometimes the peripherals attached to the PC can be responsible for the Pink screen.
So, shut down your PC and detach all the unnecessary peripherals attached to it.

- Use a bootable device to boot your PC. When Windows Logo appears, select Repair your Computer.
- This will lead to the Advanced Startup Recovery menu.
- From this menu, select Troubleshoot.
- Next, select Advanced Options > Startup Repair.
Let Windows finish the repair process.
- Then restart your PC. If your PC restarts with a pink screen, enter safe mode and perform the rest of the solutions.
5) Enter Safe Mode
Safe mode starts Windows in the basic state with minimal functionalities.
When you cannot boot into Windows normally, enter safe mode. Besides, safe mode helps to detect the actual problem.
Follow the steps to enter Safe Mode:
- Open the Advanced Startup Recovery Menu as shown in the first method.
- Select Troubleshoot option.
- Select Advanced options >Startup Settings >Restart.
- Press F5 key on your keyboard to enter Safe Mode with the networking option.
- Once you enter Safe Mode, perform the next solutions.
6) Update Graphics Drivers
Make sure to update your graphics drivers. Outdated graphics drivers can also be the reason why you are getting a Pink screen.
If you are using an Nvidia graphics card, use GeForce Experience for updating the graphics drivers.
- To do this, run GeForce Experience. If you don’t have it installed, download & install it from Nvidia’s official website.
- After opening the app, click on Drivers and check for available drivers.
- Download & install the drivers.
- For AMD graphics card users, use the Radeon software instead of GeForce Experience and follow the same process.
- Run the app and check for any newly available drivers.
- Download & install the latest drivers, and once done, restart your PC.
7) Check The GPU Temperature
Sometimes if your PC is overheated or the fans are not working properly, then also you can get stuck on a pink screen.
So, open the back side of your CPU and check if the fans are clean.
If there is dust, clean it with a blower. After that, restart your PC and check if it typically enters Windows. If not, run an SFC scan.
8) Run SFC & DISM Scans
Corrupted or missing system files can also be the reason for a pink screen monitor.
Run the System File Checker to check for missing or corrupted system files.
- Type cmd in the Windows search box and choose to run it as administrator.
- Type or copy & [paste the following command in the elevated Command Prompt window and press Enter.
sfc /scannow
- Windows will initiate the checking process. Allow the scan to complete and check f this could fix the issue. If not, then run a DISM scan.
- This will repair corrupted Windows images that can be responsible for the issue.
- Copy & paste the following line of Command in the Command Prompt window and press the Enter key:
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
- Allow the scan to complete. After this, restart your PC and then see if you can boot into Windows normally.
If you still see the blue screen, run the Memory diagnostic tools.
9) Run Memory Diagnostic Tools
RAM can be another reason for the Pink screen. So, check your RAM with the Windows Memory Diagnostic tool. Follow the steps to do so:
- Type Control Panel in the Windows search box and press Enter.
- Set the view by type to small icons or large icons.
- Double-click on Windows Memory Diagnostic.
- Choose one of the two options and follow the on-screen instructions.
Once the process finishes, check if the problem is fixed.
10) Uninstall Problematic Games
Sometimes soon after installing a game, you can see a pink screen of death.
So, uninstall the problematic game you have recently installed and check if this can fix the issue.
