UserTelemetryCache.otc
UserTelemetryCache.otc.session
Note: If you can’t find the AppData folder, press Win + R from your keyboard and type %localappdata%, then press the Enter key and the AppData folder will open. Now follow the instructions as stated above.
If the UserTelemetryCache.otc log file is not present in your log file, then remove the other one only.
- After deleting those two log files, go to “C: \ Users \ your username \ AppData \ Local \ Microsoft \ OneDrive” and find the Microsoft OneDrive setup file. Generally, the setup file can be found in either the 19.222.1110.0006 folder or the Update folder.
- Run the setup file to update OneDrive properly.
After applying all the instructions properly, check whether the Microsoft OneDrive slowing down computer is now resolved.
Solution 5: Disable Telemetry Service
Disabling the telemetry service worked for some users and fixed the high CPU usage. According to them, this is one of the best solutions to fix OneDrive slowing down the computer. To stop the telemetry service, you need to follow some steps accordingly. Those steps are provided below:
- Go to the Start icon and search for the Settings app.
- Now click on the Privacy option.

- Now open the Registry Editor by pressing the Win + R key.
- Type regedit and hit the Enter key.
- In the registry editor window, locate the key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\DataCollection
Note: Removing or modifying the registry key incorrectly is harmful to your computer. Do not modify or delete anything from the registry key without proper knowledge. Before modifying the registry key, make sure to create a system restore point, so that if anything happens wrong, you can revert your computer to the previous working state applying the system restore.
- Right-click on the DataCollection folder and select the New option.
- Choose DWORD value from the context menu.
- Now rename the newly created file to AllowTelemetry.
- Double click on the AllowTelemetry file and set the value to 0.
- Click on the OK button and close the registry editor window.
- Next, press the Win + R key to open the Run dialog box.
- Type services.msc and hit the Enter key.
- In the Services window, locate these services:
Connected User Experiences and Telemetry
dmwappushsvc
- Now double-click on the first service, i.e. Connected User Experiences and Telemetry, change the ‘Startup type’ to disabled and click on OK.
- Do the same with dmwappushsvc service.
- All the telemetry services are now disabled on Windows 10.
- Restart your computer to apply the changes you made.
Applying this method might have already resolved your issue with OneDrive.
Solution 6: Reset Microsoft OneDrive Program
Resetting an application sometimes removes the problem easily. If you find the problem still continues and constantly consuming high CPU power, you should reset the OneDrive program.
To reset the application, follow the instructions provided below:
- Press the Win + R key from the keyboard and open the Run dialog box. Or you can right-click on the Start icon and select the Run option from the menu appears.
- Copy the command below and paste it into the search box:
%localappdata%\Microsoft\OneDrive\onedrive.exe /reset
- Hit the Enter button.
- It will take some time to reset your OneDrive. You can see the OneDrive icon disappears from the system tray and reappears after the reset process completes.
Note: If the OneDrive application doesn’t reappear after a few minutes, you should manually run the application. Press Win + R again and type %localappdata%\Microsoft\OneDrive in the search box. Hit Enter and it will navigate to the OneDrive system folder. Find the OneDrive.exe setup file and double-click on it to run the application.
