Windows 10 has a built in Your Phone app, which lets you manage the photos and messages on your phone to your computer. However, it is not one of the most advanced applications, with options missing for both data backup, and data management over USB.
If you prefer using your PC for your data management and backups, you will benefit from an application that lets you manage your data stored on your phone from within your computer. MobiKin assistant for Android is one such app, which lets you easily perform data backups and data management.
We tested this application on one of our devices, and here is our review of the application.
MobiKin Assistant For Android
If you are looking for an application that lets you manage your phone’s data from your PC over a USB cable, MobiKin might be the application that you are looking for on your system. It has support for a variety of operating systems on both platforms, so this can work with many different types of phones and computer systems.
We tested the MobiKin application to pair our Windows 10 computer, and Android 9.0 mobile with the application (version 3.8.8). There is also a MacOS version available for the application. The application is said to have support for Windows 10/8/7, while your Android device should be above v2.1 to support data transfer and management.
With support for even the outdated operating systems, many users can run this application on their older devices.
Upon downloading the application from the official website, you will need to install the 17 MB application on your computer. The computer that you wish to install MobiKin on should have at least 512 MB of RAM on a 750 MHz CPU with at least 1 GB of hard disk storage.
The installation is very simple, with no ad-based marketing offers on the installer. This means that the installation is fairly quick, and neat.
Upon installation, you will be redirected to the main website where you will find the tutorials on how to use this application, and the option to upgrade to the premium version.
For connecting to your Android, you need to enable USB debugging on your phone, which can be easily done from the Developer options.
Now, let’s take a look at some of the good things that MobiKin Assistant has to offer.
MobiKin is one of the lightest Android data management applications we have tested. The installer is just 17 MB download, and the application also does not run unnecessary extra processes in the background. This means that you can use MobiKin to transfer and manage the data stored on your mobile to older computer systems as well.
Here is a screenshot of the task manager, that reflects how light the application can be on your system.
Data is one of the most important resources that a person owns these days, so creating backups of your data can be really important for somebody. Backing up your data is really easy with this application, and you can select the backup location very easily for super fast backup.
Apart from backing up your data, MobiKin Assistant also lets you perform many other functions.
You can easily manage the applications install on your phone, uninstalling any unnecessary application from within MobiKin. You can also install APKs directly from your computer using the Install option. This makes app management really simple and fast.
You can also manage the data stored on your phone. This applies for photos, videos and music that you keep on your phone. You can import and export the multimedia and documents from your phone to your computer. This is possible due to MobiKin Assistant having full access to your phone’s memory and device.
You can also manage your text messages from your computer. Not only can you perform actions on your existing messages, you can also send new text messages from the application. This is a very handy feature is you prefer using your computer more than your phone.
MobiKin has a central customer support page, where you will find the different ways in which you can contact the developers if you see something wrong with your computer application. Not only that, there are a host of FAQs which can be used as self help resources.
Although there is no live chat support here, there is email support. The response time is also very fast, and you can expect prompt replies within 12 hours.
There are, however, some things that would have made the application perfect. Here are some of the things that we did not like.
There is a free trial of the application, which lets you try out the application in its full glory. However, once the trial ends, the free version of the application is a dud. There is no manipulation of data possible; you can just view the files on your phone.
The full version of the application costs $29.99 for a year and $39.99 for the lifetime license, which can be a little high for a casual user. With cloud backups being practically free, the high cost is redundant. If there were more features from the free version, it would be appreciated.
While the application is certainly useful, the user interface feels outdated. The app looks old and the UI feels tired, with every option laid out on the front.
On the left menu, there are the different options for all the different data that you can manipulate, and the extended options in the middle.
The Super Toolkit tab at the top is the marketing channel for the developers. However, the backup and Restore options are to be found here as well.
Cannot Play Videos
While you can manage the data from the application, there is no native video player. When I wanted to remove the duplicate videos from my phone using MobiKin, I had to check for other data instead of just playing the video. This is not such a big setback, but a native video player could be appreciated.
Should You Buy MobiKin Assistant For Android?
With cloud backups being the trend and cloud computing coming forward, there is hardly any requirement for dedicated applications for the same. However, cloud platforms provide limited storage. If you have run out of cloud storage, or are a root user who needs frequent backups of the data on their phone, MobiKin Assistant is a very good data management and backup application.
Tell us in the comments if you bought MobiKin Assistant for Android, and your favorite part of the application.
