This makes the Firewall protection block the internet preventing users from accessing the internet on their devices.
So, is there any way to unblock the internet? Yes, and here I have shown how you can do it.

What To Do When Internet Is Blocked By Firewall?
When internet is blocked by Firewall, follow the methods below to fix the problem.
1) Check Your Internet Connection
Sometimes due to a poor network connection, you may have connectivity issues and blame Firewall unnecessarily for that.
So, first, make sure that you have a stable internet connection. Click on the internet icon from the Notification tray and check that you are connected to the internet.
You can also check the internet speed by clicking here. There are other similar websites available online to check the internet speed.
Besides, try connecting to a wired network as it provides a more stable connection.
2) Restart The Router Or Modem
You can also restart the router or the modem while you have connectivity issues.
Turn off the router and detach the power cable attached to it. Wait a few minutes before connecting the cable and turn the router or modem on.
If you still cannot connect to the network, then run Windows network troubleshooters.
3) Run Network Troubleshooters
Windows in-built network troubleshooter can check and fix problems related to the network connection.
So, run the troubleshooter following the steps given below:
- Press Win + I to open Windows Settings. Choose Update & Security.
- Select Troubleshoot and then click on the Additional Troubleshooters option.
- Click on Internet Connection and run the troubleshooter. Finish the process following the onscreen instructions.
- If no issue gets detected, run the Network Adapter troubleshooter. It is located under the Find and fixes other problems section.
- If, after running the Network troubleshooters, you still cannot connect to the internet, the problem may be with your Firewall protection. Go to the next steps to reset the Firewall settings.
4) Reset Windows Firewall To Its Default Settings
If after running the Windows network troubleshooters Firewall is blocking the internet, then set the Firewall to its default settings.
To do so, follow the steps given below:
- Enter Firewall in the Windows search box and select Windows Defender Firewall from the given options.
- Click on Restore defaults from the left side panel.
- From the next window, click on the Restore defaults option.
- Next, confirm your action by clicking on the Yes button to confirm your action.
This will reset Windows Defender Firewall to its factory defaults. Now you can configure new rules per your preferences or leave it like that.
5) Disable Firewall Temporarily
If after resetting Windows Defender Firewall, it is still blocking the internet, disable it temporarily.
Make sure to turn it on later as your PC is vulnerable to virus and malware threats after disabling the Firewall or any antivirus protection.
So, disable the Firewall temporarily, and this should fix the problem. If you are using any other antivirus program, make sure to disable that too.
To disable Windows Defender Firewall, check the steps as given:
- Open Windows Defender Firewall, and from the left side panel, click on the Turn Windows Defender Firewall on or off option.
- From the next window, click on Turn off Windows Defender Firewall (not recommended) options for both Private and Public network settings.
