Fix: PlayStation Store Not Loading on PS5

Updated: October 28, 2025 by Sanchita Das

The PlayStation Store is your gateway to downloading games, redeeming codes, and accessing exclusive content on your PS5.

But when it refuses to load—throwing errors like “Something went wrong” or simply freezing on a blank screen—it can be incredibly frustrating.

Whether you’re trying to grab a new release or redeem a PS Plus game, this glitch can bring your plans to a halt.

Fortunately, the issue is usually fixable with a few targeted steps. Before we dive into the solutions, let’s understand what causes this problem in the first place.

Common Reasons Why the PlayStation Store Won’t Load on PS5

Here are some common reasons why the PlayStation Store is not loading on your PS5 console.

Network Connectivity Issues

Unstable or weak internet connections—especially over Wi-Fi—can prevent the store from loading properly. Switching to a wired connection or restarting your router often helps.

Incorrect DNS Settings

Sometimes, your default DNS server may be slow or unresponsive. Switching to a public DNS like Google (8.8.8.8) or Cloudflare (1.1.1.1) can improve connectivity.

Corrupted Cache or System Glitches

Temporary system files or cache corruption can interfere with how the store loads. A quick restart or rebuilding the PS5 database in Safe Mode can resolve this.

Account Sync Issues

If your PSN account isn’t properly synced or authenticated, the store may fail to load. Signing out and back into your account can refresh the connection.

Server Outages or Maintenance

Sometimes the issue isn’t on your end. Sony’s servers may be undergoing maintenance or experiencing outages. You can check the PSN status at PlayStation Network Service Status.

Software Bugs or Outdated Firmware

Running an outdated system version can cause compatibility issues with the store. Make sure your PS5 is updated to the latest firmware.

What to do When PlayStation Store Not Loading on PS5

Follow the methods given below when PlayStation Store is not loading on PS5.

1. Check PlayStation Network Status

When you are having issues loading PlayStation Store, check the PSN status. If the PSN server is down, then also you can get such issues.

  • To do that, visit the PlayStation Network Status Page.
  • Confirm if PSN services are active and not undergoing maintenance. If the server is under maintenance, wait for some time till the server is up and live again.

2. Test Your Internet Connection

You can also test if you have a stable internet connection. To do that, open PS5 settings.

  • Then head to the Network Page.
  • Now, select Test Internet Connection.
  • You can Start Test and check the connection speed. You can also connect your service provider for help.

3. Forget The Network and Re-add it

Next, try forgetting the network and then re-adding it. Here’s how:

  • Open your PS5 Settings.
  • Select “Network,” then go to “Settings” under the Network section.
  • Choose “Set Up Internet Connection.”
  • Select your connected network and choose the “Forget” option.
  • Wait for a few minutes before reconnecting. You’ll need to enter your network password again. Follow these steps to reconnect. You can also restart the router or modem and check if that helps.

  • Go to System then from the System Software section, select System Software Update and Settings.
  • Then select Update System Software and then select Update using Internet.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to download and install the latest update file. Wait till you get the confirmation message. Once done, check if this could resolve the issue.

5. Sign Out and Sign Back In

The next thing you can do is sign out and sign in back to your PS Account.

  • To do that, go to Settings then select Users and Accounts.
  • Scroll down to Other, then select Sign Out.
Sign back in using your PlayStation Network account and then try accessing the PlayStation Store again.

6. Power Cycle Your Console and Network

  • Press the PS button and turn off your PS5 completely.
  • Unplug the power cable from your modem/router.
  • Wait 30–60 seconds, then plug it back in.

Turn your PS5 back on and test the PlayStation Store.
