CCleaner Not Cleaning Google Chrome – How To Fix It?

Sometimes you may find that Google Chrome data and browsing history have been skipped by CCleaner. There is nothing to be worried about this non-cleaning operation. This can be solved.

Well, it is associated with the processes that are running background and linked to the Google Chrome. This won’t enable CCleaner to do its operation and you find CCleaner not cleaning Google Chrome files after multiple approaches.

By following a few simple steps, you can successfully solve this issue on your own.

To disable the background process of Google Chrome, you have to follow these steps-

Method No. 1

  • Open ‘Google Chrome’ browser
  • Click on ‘Menu’ (three parallel dots on top right-hand side)
  • Select ‘Settings’

  • Scroll down and click on ‘System’
  • Disable the ‘Continue running background apps when Google Chrome is closed’ toggle

After you disable this setting, run your system CCleaner again. You can observe that CCleaner skipping Google Chrome history has been solved.

If you ever get error messages that say CCleaner can’t close Chrome, you have to close it manually. Once done, you can delete browsing data by a single click of mouse.

Note:

In case, the problem still persists. There is another way of getting rid of CCleaner not deleting Chrome history. To solve this issue, continue your read to the next section.

Method No. 2

When CCleaner doesn’t clean Chrome history, it means you have to ‘Sign In’ to your account.

As Chrome is synchronized to your Google account and it stores all data, logging out of the personal account won’t enable CCleaner to do the cleaning operation.

For this reason, you have to follow these steps-

  • Open ‘Google Chrome’ and click on the Sign in button. Enter your email id and click on ‘Next’.

  • Enter the password to login

Now, run CCleaner once again to clean all its browsing history.

Note:

If your CCleaner says Chrome is running, you have to close it manually. Once the cleaning process is completed, you won’t file any browsing history.

In case, you found one-day data was still left in the browser history. It means that you have to uncheck a setting in the CCleaner.

Method No. 3

Do you often find your last 24 hours data never gets cleaned by CCleaner? This can be solved in very simple steps.

  • Open ‘CCleaner’
  • Select ‘Options’ at the left-hand side

  • Click on ‘Advanced’
  • Uncheck ‘Only delete files in Windows Temp folders older than 24 hours’
  • Close ‘CCleaner’

It’s done. After you disable this feature, there will be no data or temp files left in the folder. It won’t skip Chrome history and other unnecessary files as well.

    When I go to the CCleaner to the cookies section I get this response. Page did not load, please check your proxy, firewall etc. It is the same data and cache.
